So I finally got around to playing this earlier this week, and I finished up the Campaign a couple of days ago. Let me start by saying the soundtrack is amazing, and I feel safe in saying that it is the best soundtrack of the series so far. None of the games have had a bad one, but this one takes the cake.

Story wise we get some new characters as expected. My favorite being Charlie Cutter. His personality is top notch and he never failed to make me laugh when he cracked a joke, but that's how it is throughout the whole game. You get the usual Uncharted humor, and in my opinion that's one of the best things about the series. They never take themselves overly serious.

However one thing that bothered me was that each of your allies seemed to have an expiration date throughout your adventure. The only one who is with you for basically the whole thing is Sully. Which disappointed me because I would have loved to have Charlie play a bigger role in the game. Plus Chloe and Elena are practically nonexistent for most of it. Speaking of Elena, I don't like the way the developers created her. They slanted her eyes a bit so it gives her kind of an oriental look. And that's not to bash orientals, but she's not oriental.

Graphic wise the game is beautiful, for the most part. There are times during in game cut scenes where they can look kind of washed out. And the "bad guys" don't have much detail, with the exception of Katherine. But during the major cut scenes everything is very crisp and detailed. There is a section where you're in a burning building that I found to be absolutely stunning. It really made me feel as if I was actually in the building myself.

One major thing that I felt was just... amazing, for lack of a better word, is that you get to see a little bit of Drake's past. That whole segment is just pure beauty for any Uncharted fan. I couldn't stop smiling because it was put together so well. That segment, in my opinion, also has the best part of the soundtrack in the game. I didn't want it to end.

Story wise you have to be aware that anything can happen at any second. The writers threw in so many plot twists and surprises that, at least in this aspect, they outdid themselves creatively. However, I found the story as a whole to be less memorable then the two previous games. And one gripe I had was the lack of a major boss fight. There's a small little "fight" at the end, but it didn't match up like the pure adrenaline you got while fighting Zorgan Lazarevic.

Gameplay wise it's more of the same old same old. Sometimes Drake doesn't exactly do what you tell him, or does something really odd when you jump, but that's to be expected in an Uncharted game *laughs*. The hand to hand combat has been expanded. You can now sometimes grab an item, like a pot or something, and hit your enemy. You also now have the ability to grab an enemy and throw him. Another new edition is you now have a throw back ability if a grenade is tossed within your proximity. I kept forgetting it was there, but towards the end I started getting the hang of it. So I found those to all be nice additions.

Some other things that bothered me is that it doesn't tell you whee Charlie came from. To me it looked as if him and Chloe where together, but it was never confirmed. Also they talk about this ring on Elena's hand and they don't tell you where that's from. I was thinking maybe it's an engagement ring, but I didn't see how that would be possible since she was half way across the world. Again it was never explained in further detail. And I'm about 75% of the way done with my Crushing play through and I don't find it nearly as hard as the Crushing difficulties of the previous games.

For my first play through my ending time was 8 hours and 30 minutes. So pretty standard for an Uncharted game. That was only getting 59 out of the 101 hidden treasures.

The multiplayer aspect has been tweaked a little bit as well. You can now customize a character of your own, and you have boosters and kickbacks to make your experience unique. While I love all the additions to the multiplayer I feel like the maps were uninspired. I fell in love with the Uncharted 2 multiplayer maps, but as of now I only really like 2 of the maps in the game. The rest just seem dull.

Overall Score: 9/10 - This game is one to be enjoyed by not only fans of the series, but also those of Naughty Dog and gaming as a whole. There's some nice new features and characters to keep you playing till the end. While I don't feel like the story was amazing, I enjoyed it for what it was and I'm hoping to see answers to some of my questions in the future. The game takes the best of it's previous entries, and we are given a unique and fun experience that I would recommend to anyone.

I can remember a time when I was laid up for 2 months following surgery nearly 2 years ago. I was down in the dumps and my wife asked me what would make me feel better. "A PS3," I said. We've had a Wii for quite sometime, but waiting for 3rd party developers (and still waiting) to make something truly exceptional for an adult audience was making wish I had something to do while all I could do was stay at home.

So, nearly 2 years ago, we got one. One of the first games that I ever played on it was Uncharted...and what a marvelous journey that was. Here was an action game that was a cleverly disguised movie. My wife actually enjoyed watching me play just so she could see how the CHARACTERS and STORY developed. We became engrossed with Nathan Drake's adventure looking for the Man of Gold ("El Dorado"). The story took historical anectdotes, twisted them, and turned them into a great story. We were introduced to our hero, Nathan Drake, as well as his crotchety partner, Sully, and an intrepid documentary film-maker Elena Fisher.

I grabbed Uncharted 2 almost immediately after finishing the first one. I was a little apprehensive at first since sequels tend to be quick cash grabs which may not be as intricate or were completed with obvious corners cut. Not in this case. Uncharted 2 introduced us to more characters, another potential love interest in the form of Chloe, and another fantastic tale that ultimately takes our heroes to a mysterious temple in Nepal. The flashback form of the story was interesting and, although the plot twist was easy to spot, the twist was still sent up in a tradition that rivals most Hollywood releases today.

I owe a lot to Naughty Dog for Uncharted and Uncharted 2 taking me out of a deep funk and marveling at what video games could achieve if developers took the time and effort to craft something extraordinary.

Last December, I learned that Uncharted 3 was available for pre-order on Amazon. And pre-order I did. I received it last night and although I lag far behind others in reviewing it (60 already - amazing), I wanted to give it a fair shot. I completed quite a bit of the game so far (it has been a late, late night!!) and I must say that IGN's review of 10/10 is dead on the mark. The melee system of Uncharted 3 just makes a lot more sense, it's simpler, and adds a new dynamic to action sequences that Uncharted 1/2 did not have before. Additionally, it's great to see "old friends" again. Drake is in his usual confident, acrobatic swagger. Sully is back as well along with Chloe and (later) Elena.

*minor spoilers* Chapter 1 starts off with a bar-room brawl, introducing you to some of the new melee aspects. Chapter 2 actually flashes back 20 years to when Drake and Sully first meet; it's almost done as an Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade introduction, but it feels a little more believable (remember - it's an action/adventure). It also introduces you to other control techniques as well as introducing you to Nathan Drake's journal, where he keeps his clues. Chapter 3...I won't spoil it, but it does introduce some additional stealth melee attacks that extend Nathan Drake's range in terms of handling different encounters. The story centers around another Sir Francis Drake fable with a rather interesting integration of T. E. Lawrence (a.k.a. "Lawrence of Arabia"). History buffs will actually enjoy this twisting of historical figures into yet another exciting adventure; it's cleverly done and, once again, Naughty Dog has done their homework (even referring to Lawrence's motorcycle "accident" in 1935?? Alluding to the fact that maybe it WASN'T an accident? Brilliant!! *end minor spoilers*

Uncharted 3 reminds me once again why I'm glad that I got a PS3. Uncharted 3 has characters that you can buy into, a story that keeps you rooted to the couch, and dialog that is so incredibly well-acted that it really does feel like you're watching a movie. If the graphics in Uncharted 1/2 weren't convincing enough, Naughty Dog has upped the ante again, showcasing the PS3's ability for rendering beautiful environments, including adding detailed touches of sand clinging to and shaking off a character's head. All the characters were motion-captured AND the voice actors are the same ones who are being captured, so the acting feels genuine because they are all tied together. These are characters that are compelling enough to care about...and just as you think, "that's enough for tonight...I'll finish Chapter 5 and go to bed..."...well, another cutscene floats in and you're still tubing down that river of adventure, craving to find out more.

Congratulations, Naughty Dog...Uncharted 3 makes me hope that a chance for a 4 is well and truly alive.
